Date smart, stay safe

Everyone here is ID-verified, but verification isn't a guarantee. These habits keep first meetings fun and safe.

Safety tips

  • Meet the first few times in a busy public place — café, restaurant, park in daylight.
  • Tell a friend where you're going, who you're meeting and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own ride there and home. Don't rely on your date for transport.
  • Keep your drink with you. If you leave it, order a new one.
  • Keep chats inside PastHello until you're comfortable sharing your number.
  • Use your Agreement: say "Not yet" or "Just no" any time — it's timestamped and must be honored.
  • Trust your gut. It's always OK to leave early.

Red flags

  • Asks for money, gift cards, crypto or help with an "emergency".
  • Refuses video chat or keeps delaying meeting in person.
  • Pushes to move off the app right away.
  • Love-bombing: intense affection or "soulmate" talk within days.
  • Story details change, or photos look too polished or inconsistent.
  • Pressures you to cross a boundary you've already set.
  • Gets angry or guilt-trips when you say no.
